Sangequan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Western North Tianshan. The Sangequan Fm was named by Luo Fazuo et al. in 1977, and published by Li Yong'an et al. in 1982. The type section is around Tamuqi-Sangequan south of Jinghe County, Xinjiang Weiwuerzhu Zizhiqu (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region).

Lithology and Thickness
The Sangequan Fm is composed of stromatolite dolomite, marble and crystalline limestone intercalated with chert. Lower part is composed of uneven interbedding of dolomite with marble, occasionally with carbonaceous limestone lenses. Middle part consists of grey, grey-white mottled dolomite and marble with stromatolite-reef marble and dolomite. Upper part is grey-white, grey and black massive dolomite sandwiched with chert bands or lenses, which bear stromatolites. It is recorded as 310 m thick
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is in conformable contact with the overlying Sitai Fm
Upper contact
It is in conformable contact with the underlying Tamuqi Fm
Regional extent
Western North Tianshan. The formation spreads at Kokirqin Mountain, south of Jinghe County, and on south slope near the watershed of Kuximuqik Mountain (also called Kusong-muqik Mountain).

Fossils
The formation contains abundant stromatolites, with the main taxa of Stratifera f., Omachtenia f., Kussiella f., Tungussia f. and Gruneria. Oncolite: Osagia f. etc. In the lower and middle and lower parts are microplants, such as Asperatopsophosphaera umishanensis, A. partialis and Pseudozonosphaera verrucosa.
